I’ve never been in close proximity to citrus trees. (In fact, I’ve never been in close proximity to the origins of most of the foods I eat). But, god, I love the smell of lime trees—there's an aura about them that intensifies exponentially as you draw closer.

The air is heavy today. It looks like rain, though we won’t see any rain until at least November. The thick air and cloudy skies lend more gravity to the citrus aura of the trees—
